Five Spice Nuts

Ingredients

1 tsp cinnamon powder

1 tbsp five spice powder

2 tbsp white sugar

2 tbsp water

600g mixed raw nuts, e.g. peanuts, cashew nuts, brazil nuts and almonds

Cooking Method

Step 1

In a small saucepan mix together the cinnamon, five-spice powder, sugar and water and place over a medium heat. When the sugar has dissolved remove the mixture from the heat.

Step 2

Put the mixed nuts into a large bowl and then pour over the sugar mixture. Using a spoon, ensure that the nuts are fully coated in the sugar mixture.

Step 3

Pre-heat the oven to 130°c and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Spread the nuts on the baking tray in a single layer and bake for 20 minutes, stirring once halfway through baking.

Step 4

the nuts are golden brown, remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before serving.

Step 5

Note: these can be stored in an air-tight container for up to a week once they have been cooled.
